Im sold on this immediately, this is exactly what im looking for in a train game and it looks super cute. I know its still early days but I hope it can also get a console release on PlayStation and Switch. Side note, the only other kind of train game I've always wanted is a train racing game. Genuinely surprised no one has tried it, i think its possible.

why nobody made a realistic model railway game? think Hornby train set on your kitchen table BUT in a video game.

Seems like a great game in the works! I’ve been thinking of a fairly ambitious project to keep me busy, where I would make a game of the entire great western mainline as it was in the 30s/40s (including branch lines like st erth- st ives and whatnot). Would you have any tips as to where to start?

For once the RUclips Algorithm delivered in spades! This is RIGHT up my street! I adore what Islands and Trains is doing and this game looks to offer the same cozy atmosphere but with some of the interactivity that makes a railway so engaging. Even just having manual control of the engine and whistle adds so much! If the scope of the game ever allowed it in future, it would be quite nice if we were able to have more wagons to shunt around, even in a free mode capacity. I can picture things like running light engine up to the quarry to arrange a little stone train in a small yard and running it down to the harbour, even just for the fun of it. Instantly added to the Wishlist, cannot wait to see the game progress. Day 1 purchase from me whenever the big day arrives <3

I just saw the video and I thought your idea was awesome. I would totally buy this game and, if you sold USB Plushies, I'd buy one. It's so cute!

this is just an aside, but for a train simulation game which is more game than staring out the window for hours like trainz or train simulator, look at Derail Valley. It's got a stunningly realistic and complicated train and locomotive simulation but it is somehow still approachable because it starts you off with easy locomotives before you unlock the harder ones. Each of the locomotives in the game are sufficiently different that each provides its own challenges when running it and the number of locomotives is kept small. You have a small diesel electric (DE2), a medium sized diesel mechanical with manual transmission (DM3), a small steam engine (S0-6-0), a large diesel-hydraulic (DH4), a large steam engine (S2-8-2), and a giant diesel electric (DE6). And unlike train simulators, derail valley's small map with lots of grades and curves keeps the action fast paced enough to keep your attention while still having some slow paced sections to enjoy the genuinely gorgeous digital scenery. it's not at all the kind of game you're talking about here, i just wanted to plug it as a solution to the "train simulators are boring" problem. It's less a train simulator and more a game with the gameplay emerging from a very realistic train simulator combined a gamified map.

I am so excited to see this game. I am wondering if there is a demo planned because I really want to play it. keep up the great work MashUp Games.

I hear the words 'cosy' and 'trains' and I'm onboard. I love both cosy games, *and* trains - especially when steam trains make me feel so warm and cosy in their own right! So its such a perfect combination 🥰 its funny, a lot of train games to me are still quite intense in their own right, like simulators where you have to operate the controls perfectly, or build lines and manage railroads and whatnot? A game like Derail Valley I've fallen in love with, its still a simulator but its still super relaxing to me! But you're right, it would be nice to have a more cosy train game - Tracks I think came close to that! So colour me very intrigued 🥰

I suggest adding more types of engines and rolling stock that could be unlocked to make it more interesting.

already left a comment, but now i have some suggestions- Maybe have multiple locomotives you can acquire? like some bigger ones, or maybe even smaller ones, id imagine a small little vertical boiler locomotive would be quite cute as well to see as an option maybe also have it so you can see different rolling stock? maybe include some little shunting bits? could be interesting and little mind teasers for between runs :3 and thats all i got for suggestions, just wanted to provide these :3

This game is the GAME. I'm down, but in the future it should 100% allow for coupling and large loads and should have all the main TTTE characters. Like an "island of sodor simulator" but cute and simple.

You should add the feature to buy furniture for your cabin and the ability to customise the position of the furniture

I'd probably like the operation of the locomotive to be a little more in depth than just forwards and backwards.

Tbh spirit tracks has some P E A K osts. and i do like taking that concept into a modernized way like if the ideas were taken into hands of another and made it into reality i'd buy ut.

You should definitely consider more train customization, like a couple different sizes or styles of steam locomotives and maybe a diesel or two to make the game more appealing to railfans. Either way, cant wait to play

I think something vital to this game would be the ability to construct your own track. Maybe not completely sandbox, but say you unlock a new region and give the player the ability to connect places in that region to current track through designated areas in whatever way they wanted. It’d be so much fun to drive the train over your own path!
